Southeast Vietnam’s Logistics Sector Surges in Late 2025

News

In late 2025, the Southeast region of Vietnam is witnessing strong growth in the logistics sector. Provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Tay Ninh are leveraging advantages in infrastructure, human resources, and new policy frameworks to strengthen regional connectivity, expand international trade, and enhance overall economic competitiveness.

According to a report presented at a seminar jointly organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Ho Chi Minh City Branch and the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, the Southeast region of Vietnam currently contributes around 32% of the national GDP and nearly 45% of the state budget.

However, logistics costs remain relatively high due to incomplete infrastructure connectivity and complex administrative procedures. Experts at the seminar proposed three key solutions:

  • Strengthening multimodal transport infrastructure connectivity
  • Harmonizing institutions and customs clearance procedures
  • Improving the quality of the logistics workforce

Ho Chi Minh City is aiming to become an international logistics hub by developing smart warehousing systems and applying advanced technologies such as IoT, RFID, WMS, robotics, and AI to optimize costs and improve operational efficiency.

Meanwhile, Dong Nai is accelerating the development of logistics infrastructure by leveraging advantages from the Long Thanh International Airport and its extensive industrial park network, while also building modern logistics centers to support manufacturing and exports.

At the same time, Tay Ninh is emerging as a new logistics hub thanks to its border-gate advantages and major transportation projects under development, including the Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai Expressway, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, and the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway. The province is also expanding industrial parks and international border gates to promote cross-border trade and logistics development.

In addition, projects such as Long An International Port—developed under the integrated model of “Seaport – Industry – Logistics – Urban Area”—along with international cooperation with major global ports, are helping strengthen Vietnam’s global supply chain connectivity.

With synchronized investments in infrastructure, institutional reform, and workforce development, the Southeast region is gradually establishing itself as one of the most important logistics centers in Vietnam and the wider region in the coming years.
